Jinan START-UP Area
Jinan Start-Up Area for the Conversion from Old to New Growth Drivers (Jinan START-UP Area) is a state-level strategic new area established to implement the major national strategy of “Yellow River Basin environmental protection and high-quality development,” to facilitate the construction of Shandong Comprehensive Experimental Zone for the Conversion from Old to New Growth Drivers, to promote the role of Shandong Peninsula megalopolis in national economic development, to replicate the successful experience of Free Trade Zones (FTZ), state-level New Areas, National Autonomous Innovation Demonstrative Areas and Comprehensive Innovation and Reform Pilot Zones, and to actively explore the modes of replacing old growth drivers with new ones. The construction of Jinan START-UP Area was approved by the State Council in April 2021. Located in northern Jinan, with an area of approximately 798 km2, it is China’s second start-up area after Xiong’An New Area. The Area will be an exemplar of environmental protection and high-quality development in the Yellow River Basin region, the new engine for Shandong Comprehensive Experimental Zone for the Conversion from Old to New Growth Drivers, a new platform for opening-up and high-level cooperation, and a green, intelligent and salubrious new urban area. Jinan START-UP Area is Jinan’s City of the Future and City of Hope.
Jinan Yellow River International Convention & Exhibition Center
Jinan Yellow River International Convention & Exhibition Center is a key project at both provincial and municipal levels. On October 15, 2019, it officially became one of the first "residents" of Jinan START-UP Area. The Center is constructed by Greenland Holding Corp., Ltd., and is managed and operated by Hannover Greenland Venue Management (HGVM). It is a large-scale comprehensive convention & exhibition center (CEC) integrating exhibition and conference facilities and accommodations.
Jinan Yellow River International Convention & Exhibition Center has a total floor area of 1,687,000 m2, with an indoor exhibition space of 510,000 m2. The total investment is approximately CNY ¥14.1 billion. Upon completion, the Center would become the world’s largest CEC in terms of total floor area and China’s largest CEC in terms of indoor exhibition space. It would also be a world-class (No.1 in China) “city of convention & exhibition (C & E) economy” that integrates C & E with other industries as well as the largest modern C & E Industrial Park in China.
Jinan Yellow River International Convention & Exhibition Center is divided into three major zones: (from east to west) the Exhibition Hall, the Conference Center and the Hotel. The entire complex seems to be a panorama of Yellow River, with the Conference Center a grandeur bridge that symbolizes the great leap the ancient city of Jinan has taken in its course of economic development and the aspire of Jinan to communicate, connect and integrate with the world. In the future, the Center will be one of Shandong’s major channels to communicate with the world, and shall benefit greatly the development of local C & E economy, the conversion from old growth drivers to new growth drivers and the increase of Jinan’s competitiveness.

Hanover Greenland Venue Management (HGVM)


On March 26, 2019, Greenland Holding Corp., Ltd. and Deutsche Messe AG (DMAG), a world-renowned exhibition operator, established the joint venture (JV) Hannover Greenland Venue Management (HGVM). Adopting the highest contemporary international standard, HGVM provides comprehensive venue management and consulting services for all current and future exhibition venues invested by Greenland Holdings in China, including but not limited to business plan, market research, designing requirements, design evaluation and quality assurance.

Unlike any other exhibition operators, DMAG as an event organizer has more than 70 years of successful experience in venue planning, design, construction and operation. It owns and operates one of the world’s largest exhibition centers in Hannover, Germany, and is a co-owner of Shanghai New International Exhibition Center (SNIEC), one of Asia’s most successful exhibition venues. It operated Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE), Indonesia’s newest and largest CEC from 2015 to 2019, and has provided consultation for Foshan (Guangdong) Tanzhou International Convention & Exhibition Center (GICEC), Nanjing Airport Exhibition Center and Xiamen International Convention and Exhibition Center (XICEC).
